The success of a website is all down to traffic.

You can have the best website in the world with the best monetization, but if no-one goes there then you aren’t going to be able to make a living from it and it won’t have much of a reach or influence.

As such, it makes sense for bloggers to make traffic their priority and to do everything they can to increase the amount of traffic they bring to their sites.

So the question then is: why do so many bloggers and site owners continue to neglect themselves of some of the most effective and important sources of traffic out there?

Here we will look at some of the traffic sources that lots of sites are currently missing out on that could just make all the difference. 

YouTube 

YouTube is a fantastic source of traffic and unbeknownst to many is actually the second most popular search engine after Google.

So if you’re spending a lot of your time and resources on SEO, then it only makes sense that you should also invest some on YouTube.

With a great video that promotes your site or product and a link in the description, this is a great way to bring a whole new crowd to your blog. Oh and don’t forget Vimeo!

Content Aggregator Websites 

Content aggregator websites are sites that don’t actually provide their own content, but rather collect and share the best content from around the web. The best-known examples of these are of course Reddit and Digg, but there are many others that might just suit your niche.

The best way to use these sites is to spend some time building up a reputation for posting interesting links, and only then to try and promote your own material. Become a valuable member of the community and you’ll find that that value is rewarded. 

Sites like content aggregator sites are good too. That means sites like Scribd (which lets you upload your documents to share with a community), or like LifeHacker which lets users provide short articles on ‘hacks’ to make life better. 

Forums 

Before there were social networks there were forums. But while Facebook and Twitter may have taken many us away from these forums, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t still valuable from a marketing perspective. In fact, forums these days tend to be occupied predominantly by dedicated communities that are particularly passionate about the subject they’re discussing. This is the perfect place to share your links then if you want them exposed to some potentially diehard fans for your brand. Just spend time getting yourself known there before you start trying to promote yourself!
