Within the dynamics of cinema, there is the feeling that Marvel always has a premiere just around the corner. It influences their entire marketing and communication strategy, with those ads in which they expose a whole calendar of releases in both series and movies. Therefore, when you think of Avengers 5 , you usually imagine that the production will not take too long to arrive. However, Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel, does not think so.
Avengers (Joss Whedon, 2012) was released four years after the release of Iron Man (Jon Favreau, 2008), the production that gave rise to the presentation of one of the main characters of this entire narrative phase. Therefore, it is intuited that Avengers 5 could be released within four years, taking into account the rhythm of production and premieres that the production company is used to. But no.
During a recent interview, regarding the premiere of Shang-Chi and the legend of the Ten Rings , Kevin Feige spoke about it, leaving a phrase that invites us to think that the premiere of Avengers 5 will take longer than imagined.
What did Kevin Feige say about Avengers 5 ?
During an interview with Collider , Kevin Feige said in relation to Avengers 5 : “I think we want there to be a amount of reasonable time since Endgame (Anthony and Joe Russo, 2019) to start a a new saga, which is already underway and has already begun ”. This beginning is related to the premiere of Black Widow (Cate Shortland, 2021), Loki (Kate Herron, 2021), Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Kari Skogland) and WandaVision (Matt Shakman).
Each of these productions has left a small preview related to Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe , since the inclusion of new characters , the changes of command in the case of some, such as Captain America, and the appearance of the Multiverse as one of the axes on which the next stage of Marvel mythology will be based.
To the previous comment, Kevin Feige spoke about the productions referred to: “You need time, as you did in Phase 1, to build that saga before starting to join everybody”. Added to the above are for the next premieres of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home .
That time, in other words, is a narrative construction so that the incorporation of one and the other character makes sense and does not seem like just another turn of the script to please the followers or boost production in some way. One of the years that is contemplated for the premiere of Avengers 5 is 2025. It remains to see how the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to advance to have more certainty about it.
